Xavier Admission Test (XAT) :
About The Test
The XAT is conducted for admission to Post-Graduate degree Programmes in Management at XLRI, XIM, XISS, LIBA etc. The Test is conducted to select the most appropriate students for XLRI management education. The XLRI is ranked amongst the top 5 B-Schools in India. For more than 50 years Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) is conducting Xavier Admission Test on All India level to select the most appropriate students for admission to their post-graduate degree programs in management. Apart from XLRI, there are around 42 management institutes who subscribe to the XAT score.
Pattern of XAT:
- Duration 2 hours
- With additional 20 minutes given for essay
- Held on the first Sunday of January
- The numbers of questions are 120
- The paper is divided into 3 sections viz. Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude & DI, Logical Reasoning & Decision making
- 250 - 300 word essays with topics ranging from those of social relevance to propositions to abstract. The essay topic example, "Consequences of Gender Imbalance - The Third World War".

The Method of Scoring :
Right Answer: 1 mark Incorrect Answer: -1/4 mark(for 1st 6 errors per section) & -1/2 mark(for remaining errors
Eligibility :
A three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline
recognized by the AIU as eligible for PG studies in Management.
Application Procedure:
Applicant has to follow the procedure given below
- ObatinXAT Bulletin & XLRI Prospectus from XAT Office, XLRI Jamshedpur, 831001 and from select branches of State Bank of India (SBI) spread over 111 cities on payment of the specified amount.
- Log on to the institute website and go to XLRI Registration. Here he/she has to fill in the XLRI form and opt for the programme(s) he/she intends to apply for. The candidate has to provide personal details, XLRI Prospectus number, Date, amount, SBI branch name and submit the form online. After submission the candidate will immediately get their XAT ID and password.
- Once the candidates provide the bank detail they can proceed to take print out of XLRI Payment Advice Form (XLRI PA Form).
- The candidate has to enclose the third copy of bank/XLRI pay-in-slip along with the duly completed XLRI PA Form and use only the special envelop provided with the XLRI Prospectus and send it by registered post /speed post/courier within a week of obtaining the XLRI Prospectus.
- A candidate can apply for more than one programme, but not more than three Programmes. If he/she intends to apply for more than one programme he/she needs to pay an additional amount of Rs. 200/- (total Rs. 1000/-) towards XLRI Prospectus.
